Luke 1:48 DRV | Luke 1:48 NABRE |
---|---|
“Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.” | “For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.” |
Explanation: Humility does not have same meaning as lowliness. I suspect this might be Marxist ideology creeping in which is always trying to convince us that if a person is poor, they are virtuous. Material poverty is independent of virtue. There are greedy rich and greedy poor. There are lazy rich and lazy poor. Jesus came to save us all. Humility is required to enter heaven. Lowliness itself has no merit without humility.
